Hi! I’m Khadijah and I’m that lady who after falling in love with the microphone at age 12 has since been passionate about transforming young people, particularly ladies into ethical speakers with a Global perspective.
I’ve spent the last nine years gathering versatile experience in the Media and Communications Industry. I’ve engaged in news casting, news production and reporting whilst with Radio Justice (Tamale) and Kesmi FM (Tamale). Whilst with Radio Univers (University of Ghana), I hosted four radio programmes namely “Islam in Focus”, “Agroscope”, “Alumni Hour” and “Maligu Saha” (A Civic Education programme in the Dagbanli Dialect). Through these programmes, I have interviewed high profile personalities such as the Current Speaker of Parliament of Ghana Professor Mike OcQuaye, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Chamber of Mines Dr. Joyce Aryee, Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey among others. Leveraging this experience, I created special training sessions for students to enhance their public speaking skills, radio broadcasting skills and confidence. Most of my trainees have risen to become radio hosts, student leaders and public speakers. These contributions earned me a Certificate of Recognition from the Public Affairs Directorate of the University of Ghana.
My engagement with a nongovernmental organisation called CRRECENT (Child Research and Resource Centre) an NGO that focuses on eradicating early/forced child marriages, gender-based violence and reducing economic exclusion of girls and young women has equipped me with experience in the development, monitoring and evaluation of projects related to young girls. One of such projects is the Girls Advocacy Alliance (GAA) Camp 2017 organised in collaboration with Plan International (Ghana).
My second love being the pen, I’m currently a content writer with the University Relations Section of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, as well as a content writer for “The Today’s Muslim”, an Islamic page on Facebook dedicated to presenting relevant Islamic content for the 21st Century Muslim (you can check out some of my pieces there. I’m positive you’ll love the one I wrote for Ghanaian Muslim Women in commemoration of Women’s Day). Engaging in research work for academic papers is an additional love and I share this love by occasionally supervising students at the Olive School of Journalism (Tamale) in their research work.
I hold a Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana and a Certificate in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
